The main benefit of knowing your 1RM is that you can calculate the amount of weight you should be training with during specific training phases:

MxS phase (Maximum Strength): 85% - 95% of your 1RM
Hypertrophy phase (Muscle-building): 60% - 80% of your 1RM
MD phase (Muscle Definition): 30% - 50% of your 1RM

This app also calculates the percentages for these three phases for your upon calculating your 1RM, allowing you to spend your time working out instead of having to do math.
