About the Author: Gary S. Marshall, MD, a professor of pediatrics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky, serves as chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. In addition to being a busy clinician, he is nationally known for his work in the areas of vaccine research, advocacy, and education.
