Thought I'd be able to inform my family and neighbors, God forbid something happened. It really is a let down to know that this app is useless to citizens who would greatly benefit from such knowledge in order to stay safe.... If I could give it 0 stars I would.
Disabled veteran here, I would love to know where the reports are coming from. The police don't even respond anymore. Sometimes reports are right outside my window and sometimes they come from the woods. I would love to put my PTSD at ease and know if I need to watch for a round coming in the windows near my kids. It's bad enough where lots of courts won't even enter shot spotter data into evidence due to accuracy issues. Don't put an app in a public marketplace if it's not public use. 0.05/10
Excellent app. Very accurate. For those wondering why regular citizens don't have access even though it's being funded with tax paying dollars, look at it this way. Law enforcement has many tools that are used that a regular citizen doesn't have access to. Shotspotter is just that, another crime fighting tool to help law enforcement with crime.
I got excited about this app when I heard these are being installed in my area. But now I see all the reviews saying this is only for law enforcement. To explain why this is useful for us lowly civilians (who are paying for it), many of us have training and weaponry, and would like the extra situational awareness. Multiple shots I just heard - half a mile away or half a block? If the latter, having this tool would help me decide when to put my head down and hit the bunker.
Great app. Has been used to solve many crimes. Civilians do not need this. The only thing that would happen is people would post the information they learned from this app all over social media and contaminate evidence. EVERYTHING doesn't need to be broadcasted. Use NextDoor or the Ring app to converse about gunshots & neighborhood crimes. In the meantime, stay safe."
