Great App! Very reasonable fee, excellent offerings and play online results. I would rate 5 except when I do have a problem, I have never gotten past "submit report" response telling me to "submit report"...a continuous cycle with no end result. Other issues such as credits, cancellation, etc promptly addressed.
Ads will only be skipped if you use thier player. You have to have a different subscription to use your computer. File sizes are quite large, complete waste of money. It takes the same amount of time to "record" something that it does to watch it. So instead of wasting 10 bucks a month on this, buy a screen recorder for 10 dollars, for life. Pause when a commercial comes on, set your own file resolution. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!
I've had the desktop record version for a long time and thought I'd try the cloud version. quality is better and so is closed caption support for channels that don't have issues with that. Wish there was an easy way to search and schedule from a PC but maybe that will come. Works great with Plex.
Great for those on limited data plans or slow connections that preclude streaming in higher definition provided you have a way to play online recordings. I tend to queue up recordings and stop by the library to play online on their WiFi. More recently however, an unlimited 5G mobile plan allows more flexibilty when out and about. Inability to get captions/subtitles on some services is frustrating but not PlayOn's fault. Add Apple TV+ and get a fifth star :)
This app is wonderful and obviously under continuous development as you can see from the recent addition of Discovery+ to the channels. However, the device I use this on is a tablet, and I must use the app in landscape mode. There are functions that just don't work in landscape, such as setting up recordings. Until this is fixed I can't give a 5 star review."
