The apps name is inspired from Saima Wazed Hossain, licensed school psychologist, autism activist and a member of World Health Organizations expert advisory panel on mental health. Hossain, who is also the daughter of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed and nuclear scientist M.A. Wazed Miah, is simply known to her family as Putul, meaning doll.

PUTUL GHOR aims at encouraging children with autism to build on their interactional, communicational and behavioral skills through the use of images, photographs and visual storytelling in ways that are simple, universal and easy to understand. PUTUL GHOR intends to serve as a tool that children with autism, and their parents, teachers and healthcare professionals, can rely on in everyday situations.
