Prison: the facts lets you see what life is like inside the UK's overcrowded prison system. Award-winning photography, video and detailed facts chart the extraordinary rise in prison numbers over the last 20 years, inflation in sentencing and the social and economic consequences of overuse of custody. Revealing as they do, the state of our overcrowded prisons and the state of the people in them, these figures, drawn largely from government sources, together with first-hand accounts from people living and working in the UK's prisons indicate the scope for community solutions to crime.
