Oralingo is a mobile app offering learners of English language the opportunity to practice their speaking skills with native speakers at any time of the day, anywhere around the world. And tutors get paid for their time spent in conversation with students.

The tutor may be sitting in a cafe tucked away in a small village in Snowdonia, whilst the learner may be walking down the busy Chang-An Boulevard in Beijing.

Flexible and fulfilling

At Oralingo, everyone has full control of their time and schedule. As a spoken English tutor, you may be anything from a full time school teacher or office worker to a stay-at-home parent or a university student. You only go online when you have time to take a student request and you may hang up any time by simply saying "sorry I've got to go, see you next time". Think of yourself as a Uber driver who provides a service at any time that suits you.

Do I qualify and any skills needed?

Not really, as long as you speak standard English, and are patient with learners of all ages and backgrounds. You basically help lead the practice conversation, and occasionally correct the learner's pronunciation and grammar, politely and softly.

Why is it mobile only?

The entire service is smart phone based, which offers flexibility for both learners and tutors in that they may get connected anywhere they wish, in a lounge, garden, even during a walk in the park. The speaking request may come in any time of the day as long as your Orlaingo App is online. This is fundamentally different from a pre-booked conversation or a fixed time course where you can sit in front of a PC.
