National Institute of Nursing Education, in collaboration with NICU, PGIMER Chandigarh, India presents this free of cost mobile phone-based app to help the parents/families of preterm hospitalized neonates. The family is the ultimate care provider and an integral part of the NICU care team. Our NICU team envisions to make parents primary care providers by engaging them actively in the care of their neonates inside the units during hospitalization. The content includes videos and information booklets/pamphlets to empower parents by helping them to orient to the NICU environment and learn care of preterm neonates. The content of this application is evidence-based and validated by experts in this field. The families become more confident and empowered to provide care to their neonates not only in NICU but also at home. The nurses and doctors help families to the best of their abilities by teaching the care and providing the information. The content of the app is developed to support families as well as health care providers in facilitating learning. The active and planned participation of parents reduces their stress and increases their satisfaction. It also improves the outcomes like breast milk feeding, kangaroo mother care, weight, and reduced length of hospital stay. The parents are requested to see the videos on orientation, hand hygiene, wearing a gown, and milk expression before visiting the NICU. The remaining content will be more helpful if seen within 4-5 days of admission and followed by clarification of doubts from the NICU team.
