Use UptoPlay to play online the game Date Status Bar 2.
Displays the day of the week and month side by side in your status bar.
Date Status Bar 2 shows the current day and month in the top status bar. The date fits right in and appears as if its part of the Android OS unlike some apps.
The month can be displayed in 2 formats.
1. As a number i,e 03 for March
2. As English 3 characters i.e Mar for March

It works fine. But, I do have a couple of problems with it. Now I use the app on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2019) that I just got and it does a couple things that drive me up the wall. 1) I have the option checked to start with the phone - it doesn't; I have to open the app to get it to display. 2)For some odd reason there are two dates (the SAME except for background color) shown when I pull the notifications down (I hope you get what I'm saying). Otherwise, it works fine.
After having used the first version for 2 years, the second is a joke... Use the first one, it's the same price for pro and it's only one notification..
Regardless of the settings chosen, once you receive any notifications, the date falls off of the notification bar.
I've used this app for a long time, even though none of the customisation colours have ever worked, and at times, it's disappeared completely from my status bar. Today, it has disappeared altogether and I can't get it back, so I am uninstalling ☹️
