WHAT IS SAHAYATA?
Sahayata app is Kolkata's first ever community based approch for women protection. The undesirable incidents like women harassment, molestations are increasing significantly in the city. We know that whenever there such an emergency happens we usually call someone we can trust and give them the current location directions. Even if you call the police it will take them some time to reach you.
Sahayata app takes this responsibility on itself.
The ' ' button will send an SMS with your current geo-location to all the registered Sahayaks (local volunteers) and also call the Kolkata police women's helpline number.
The ' ' button will do the same as ' ' button but additionally, it will send a notification to all the users stating that a person is in danger in the particular area. This is for the most emergency cases.
NO DATA? NO PROBLEM!
Sahayak app is able to function even if the data connection is not present. However, in that case you will have to manually select the area pincode because the translation process of geo-location to pincode needs internet. The rest of the process is internet independent.
Please do note that Kolkata Police is not indulged with any part of this app. This is an initiative by me and other enthusiast people. Also do not forget to update the database frequently to keep the latest records of the Sahayaks.
