A Spiel des Jahres Recommended game, Jaipur is one of the most most well-loved 2-player tabletop games. Jaipur is a fast-paced card game for two players with a blend of tactics, risk and luck. You are one of the most powerful traders in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. You and your opponent duel to demonstrate to the Maharajah that you can earn a greater profit than your competition. At the end of a round, one player receives the Maharajah's seal of excellence, and the first player to earn two seals of excellence wins the privilege of being invited to the Maharajahs court!

Each turn, you can choose to take one card, exchange your cards for other goods, buy the camels needed to transport your wares, or sell at the market. The sooner you sell and the more you sell of a single good at once, the higher your profit.

If you take cards, you have to choose between taking all the camels, taking 1 card from the market or swapping 2 to 5 cards between the market and your cards. If you sell cards, you get to sell only one type of good per turn, and you get as many chips from that good as you sold cards. The chips values decrease as the game progresses, but you get increasingly high rewards for selling sets of 3, 4, or 5 cards of the same good at a time, so its all about waiting just the right amount of time to make your trade.

You cant sell camels, but they are integral to trading and theyre also worth a little something at the end of the round, sometimes enough to secure the win so use them smartly!

Comments:

The game is fun at the lower levels in campaign mode. Later on it is very apparent it is rigged towards the computer winning, which makes the game a lot less enjoyable. Setting up an account to play with your friends is also impossible; it constantly says there is an error when entering your email address. If looking to play with your friends, find a different game. I'm really liking this game so far but it's really frustrating that the computer can make a move by exchanging cards when it's hand is full, but I can't???!! I've never played the physical game but i have to assume something is wrong here. fix it or the game is useless, what makes games fun is when there is a level playing field and you actually feel like you're actions are making the difference. when the other player has a massive advantage like that then it feels completely pointless.

Own and obsessed with the hard copy as well. The problem with the app version is the campaign. The NPC opponent shouldn't be able to read your starting hand. I am for keeping track of what has been picked up, but 99% of the time the opponent will play against your starting hand rather than picking up an obvious card. Even to play one brown when rubies are showing in a pair. The app is more about beating the RNG than your opponent. Therefore the app is designed out of luck, rather than skill.

Love the game, feel like it adapts well to mobile (have played IRL for awhile now) but as of a few days ago I have been ridden with a bug that forces a crash and is not fixed on phone restart or force stopping the app. It's a great game otherwise but this bug is rendering the game literally unplayable. Dunno what's going on but there's no way for me to get any other troubleshooting feedback.

Beautiful game, but unstable. It's a great adaptation of a great card game. The art is beautiful and the controls intuitive. The problem is that the game eventually stops working (happened on both Moto Z Play and Moto Z3), and requires a full reinstall, at which point you lose all progress and additional game modes."
