Have you ever wondered how marine and freshwater scientists experiment with large bodies of water?
Do you want to see how the water microbes look like?

Aquacosm app is an educational application developed for kids between 6 and 106 years old with interest on science and how it works!

You will learn what is a mesocosm and how scientists perform mesocosm experiments Then, you will see what are the most common microbes living in the marine and freshwater environments. Finally, you will perform a mesocosm experiment to study the effects of Sahara dust storms on the Mediterranean Sea ecosystem.

AQUACOSM is a network connecting the state-of-the-art marine and freshwater experimental research infrastructures across Europe. Its main goals are to coordinate research across all aquatic environments, promote multidisciplinary scientific collaboration, develop common best practices and allow access to mesocosm infrustructures to the international scientific community. AQUACOSM is funded by the European Union (EU H2020-INFRAIA).
