GISPORT is one of the outputs of the Blue Land project that defines a new approach to the governance of marine and coastal resources as it promotes mechanisms for the direct involvement of local communities in land management and protection of biodiversity.

The local community is to become part of the BLUE LAND through the acquisition of specific skills within nature protection and conservation actions, and by collaborating actively, via in-loco actions. In this way, the Community is actively involved in the preservation of the existing natural resources within the Blue Lands, living its life and work experience quite consciously and in compliance with common needs.

Some of the tools that may enable the achievement of these objectives include an ICT platform for the integrated planning of the coastal area and an Application called GISPORT meant to involve the community in the monitoring of the indicators related to the ecosystem services identified (citizen science approach) to ensure its future sustainability.
