House Music was born in Chicago in the first half of the 1980s. The origin of the name was due to this new style of dance music that emerged and began to be played at the night club called Warehouse. The house regulars would go to record stores looking for the songs they heard at the club and asking for that Warehouse song, until the stores started to shorten the name of Warehouse Music, to just HOUSE. Many say that House Music is an aspect of the disco music of the 70s, as they were almost contemporary styles of music. Frankie Knuckles is hailed by many as the "father" of House Music, he who is one of the pioneers of this genre along with other names like Tony Humphries. Currently there are many sub-verts of house, such as: Funky-House, Tech-House, Disco-House, Progressive-House, Electro-House, Acid House, Soulful House, Neo-Jazz-House among others.
