Comments:
I love WNYC immensely but this app turns off by itself every few minutes. I checked the permissions and all are allowed. After it turns off I launch it again and have to listen to the intro message. It also takes a while to load the streams when you first open it. (Samsung Galaxy S9) Update 12/21: I uninstalled it. Too frustrating. Listening via the website now instead. Apparently my monthly sustainer donation isn't enough to cover making an android friendly app. :(
I love you wnyc! But your app is terrible. It crashes every few minutes and seems to do so right when the most important info or part of a story is bring told. It's so frustrating! Also, there is no way to search for specific shows. You have to scroll through the whole list of shows in alphabetical order to find what show you'd like. It's just not user friendly. Your content is always a+. Please hire some better app developers.
WNYC is the best general interest radio I know. Their app is among the worst I've ever had the frustration of using. It crashes constantly, usually in the middle of an item I'm trying to hear, and then reloads its PR message everytime I restart the stream, so I'm constantly missing content I'm trying to hear. Unless you want to keep your device in your hand, it's impossible to hear a complete broadcast without several interuptions. This problem has been long-term and persistent. (Android user)
Great station, truly terrible app. As others have said, it constantly stops playing for no reason. The interface is so terrible that it's laughable. You can't search the list of shows but have to scroll through endless screens. You can't swipe between station options when the app opens without a long wait for some hidden function to load. Please WNYC, spend a few of my donation dollars to hire a decent app designer.
Needs update for consistent steaming It cuts out after just 10 to 15' minutes I have a pixel 3A that runs fast enough I don't see the buffering stall with my iPhone 7 so it has to be the Android WNYC app I hope this gets addressed soon The actual content of WNYC is impeccable Thank you!"
