His full name is Abu 'Abdillah Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Daud ash-Shanhaji. Born in Fez, Morocco in 672 H and died in 723 H. It is said that according to Ibn al-Hj, ash-Shanhji was born in the year Imam Ibn Malik died.
