A historical exhibition showcasing printed archive documents (engravings, tracts, posters, etc.) with the purpose of showing just how popular a heroine Joan of Arc has been in France, and then worldwide, from the 15th century right up to the first half of the 20th century. A figure of devotion or propaganda, claimed as their own by such diverse groups as feminists, French soldiers and US nurses during World War I, English suffragettes and the Vichy government… Joan of Arc’s image has thus been used by relating to those aspects of her character and/or life that fit people’s claims. Well worth seeing.
