What it is:
SPARX is an app that helps young people with mild to moderate depression. It can also help if youre feeling anxious or stressed.
It was developed with the help of young people and is based on a type of talking therapy called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT for short. You can do CBT with a counsellor or a psychologist but you can also learn CBT skills from SPARX.
CBT teaches skills about how to cope with negative thoughts and feelings by helping people to think in a more balanced and helpful way and getting them to do things they enjoy or that give them a sense of achievement. There is lots of research to show that CBT helps.
SPARX can help you learn how to have Smart, Positive, Active, Realistic, X-factor thoughts!

Comments:
I think this is a great proof of concept. But I feel like it could be a lot better in many aspects. Maybe the 3d environment was to ambitious. 2d is a lot simpler to implement and even if you make the movement poor, It will still feel better then this. I would recommend looking at other games that cover this topic. Night in the woods is a good one, For example. And a lot of the messages though this game feel ham fisted. Also options should have audio for dyslexic people. Stopping there is bad
I tried taking the game seriously, but the poor graphics and poor controls made me not take it seriously. The collectables are useless and do literally nothing outside the level (as in not even a counter changes), the game is very glitchy and I even jumped into the water on the main island, and after completing it, all your progress gets reset, making beating the game almost pointless. The ideas of the game are really good and helpful, but the game looks like a joke, ruining the experience.
Unfortunately like the other people here, can't get past the log in screen. My phone automatically granted permission. when I signed up it went through ok and even loaded. When I went to choose my character, I couldn't alter them. It then came to the question about who frequently in the last 2 weeks have you felt bad or depressed when I selected my option, nothing happened. Deleted app, reloaded it, can't get past log in now. Permissions are fine. Needs testing on newer phones & to be fixed...
For those with problems starting this app, open app info (settings), clear data then go into permissions and set the storage permission on. Issue is with updated API build target won't automatically grant permissions on install. This will only effect more recent Android builds ( >6 I think)
Won't load. I don't know how many times you tested this game but it doesn't load should straight up go back to testing. Because so far it sucks the sign up process is more fun than waiting for this game to load"
