Play this online game named Understand Me.

This app is a resource to assist health care professionals in caring for patients from diverse ethnic, religious and cultural groups and features good practice guidelines for person centred intercultural care and the provision of interpreter services.

UNDERSTAND ME also features information on caring for ill and dying patients from specific ethnic, religious and cultural groups with additional information on palliative care.

This App provides details of further resources for more comprehensive information on any of these aspects.

This App has been developed by the COMMUNICATE YOUR HEALTH (IRELAND) partnership, which comprises the Interpreters in Palliative Care: ‘On Speaking Terms—Matters of Life and Death’ development project (funded by the Irish Hospice Foundation) and the Health Service Executive (HSE) National Social Inclusion Unit, Ireland.

The Interpreters in Palliative Care development project sought to identify challenges for palliative care health care professionals caring for people with limited English proficiency and to develop accessible resources to meet these needs.
