SportInclusive (Română) play online

Sportinclusive is the first online learning platform for sports coaches on how to promote the social inclusion through sport of newcomer migrants and refugees.

From 2013 to 2015, immigration to the EU-28 from non-EU countries increased by 62.6% (Eurostat, migr_imm5prv). The number of asylum seekers increased for the first time in the EU-28 by 123% between 2014 and 2015 (Eurostat News Release 44/2016).

This situation can foster tension, fragmentation and misunderstanding between the local population and newly arrived migrants and refugees. However, social inclusion initiatives for newly arrived migrants and refugees can play an important role in alleviating these problems.

Sport has long been recognized as a tool for promoting social inclusion. The Council Conclusions on the role of sport as a source and promoter of social inclusion (2010 / C 326/04) acknowledge that: [...] sport plays an important social role, with a strong potential for social inclusion in and through sport, [. ..] and social inclusion through sport involves inclusive participation in society, community development and strengthening social cohesion. "

The partners of the Sportinclusive project have a long experience in using sport to promote social inclusion. However, when they started working with newly arrived migrants and refugees in 2015, they noticed that the methods were not as effective with this group as they were with other disadvantaged groups we work with. They felt the need to improve the skills of sports coaches, so they decided to develop the first open and multilingual e-learning platform for sports coaches, on how to promote the social inclusion through sport of newcomer migrants and refugees.
