The I Ching or Yi Jing (Chinese: , Mandarin: [i ti]), usually translated as Book of Changes or Classic of Changes, is an ancient Chinese divination text and among the oldest of the Chinese classics. Originally a divination manual in the Western Zhou period (1000750 BC), over the course of the Warring States period and early imperial period (500200 BC) it was transformed into a cosmological text with a series of philosophical commentaries known as the "Ten Wings".After becoming part of the Five Classics in the 2nd century BC, the I Ching was the subject of scholarly commentary and the basis for divination practice for centuries across the Far East, and eventually took on an influential role in Western understanding of Eastern thought.
The I Ching means Book of Changes in Chinese and is all about Change, which is the one constant in life. If you get no changing lines when you cast a hexagram (i.e. number 6 or a 9 value), that signifies that conditions related to your topic are relatively stable or not in great flux at this particular time.
The I Ching is used in a type of divination called cleromancy, which uses apparently random numbers. Six numbers between 6 and 9 are turned into a hexagram, which can then be looked up in the text, in which hexagrams are arranged in an order known as the King Wen sequence. The interpretation of the readings found in the I Ching is a matter which has been endlessly discussed and debated over in the centuries following its compilation, and many commentators have used the book symbolically, often to provide guidance for moral decision making as informed by Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. The hexagrams themselves have often acquired cosmological significance and been paralleled with many other traditional names for the processes of change such as yin and yang and Wu Xing.

Comments:
Such a brilliant looking app with a clean ui. But forces you to use the auto cast function, I thought you could manually toss/use straw then put it in the app. I don't believe software can get the same results as physical interaction with coins or straw. Hopefully that's a function that can be added in the settings or something.
Incredibly well written. Only suggestions I would have is generate all the sticks with a single draw, and improve the look of the sticks. Keeping a journal log and being able to classify by keywords is also a great idea very well implemented!.
Simple, yet very insightful. A joy to use. I wish it had a list of all hexagrams in order, so that we might reference the descriptions if using coins.
This has been the BEST app for I Ching. I love the journal aspect that keeps a record of your queries. I give this 5/5 because the developer added an option to switch to dark mode in the app. I will be using this forever. It will continue to be such a valuable tool to have.
I think this is my first review ever. Technology is not my thing, other than the basics and a few games here or there. I don't do social media or post things, I will forgo almost everything if I have to set up an account. I have to say this app was and is worthy of installing. Pleased with the results I've gotten, and it's not always what I want to hear but seems to always be what I need to hear. I'm hopeful this is not just a fluke. Thank you for a spot on I ching."
