Use UptoPlay to play online the game Walking Museum.
Walking Museum invites you on a cultural and historic open-air walk. Here are some of the reasons why you will enjoy sharing the visit with us.
WM brings home the wonders of our Flemish masters, currently displayed in different European and international museums.
We enable these works to go "for a walk" outside the museum's walls. Hence our name - Walking Museum.
Reproductions of the paintings are displayed outdoors in and around cities and will come to life through augmented reality (AR).
Our App, on your smart phone, permits the addition of a third dimension to the displays, bringing objects and scenes to life, allowing you to see an enhanced AR version of these wonderful images.
The very first stop for Walking Museum is the picturesque medieval town of Damme, where three reproductions of famous masterpieces by Pieter Bruegel are displayed: -
"The Dutch Proverbs"
"Mad Meg"
"The Battle Between Carnival and Lent"
Using these, WM is able to tell the story of Tijl Uilenspiegel.
Why Pieter Bruegel and Tijl Uilenspigel? What do these two have in common?
\tTijl Uilenspiegel, "son of Damme, is the legendary hero of the novel by Charles de Coster. His adventures take place in the 16th century, a dark period for Flanders under Spanish rule.
\tThis is much the same period during which Bruegel's famous paintings were created. His works perfectly sketch the world of Tijl Uilenspiegel, thus these two complement each other in a very interesting and unexpected way.
The user sees a short intro, which is accessible to everyone that points his device towards an image (photo online) of one of the three art works or the original painting of Bruegel at a museum.
After viewing the intro, the user is invited to point his device at the AR marker, located next to the painting in Damme, to unlock the rest of the animation on the spot in Damme.
Walking Museum brings you back to Tijl's medieval Flanders, a forgotten world full of fascinating adventures and dangers, the horror of the inquisition, the hunt for witches and exciting mysteries, with the elements of a thriller.
Walking Museum reintroduces some of the famous works of Breugel and takes the viewer on a fascinating virtual journey through the paintings of the great master.
Walking Museum has created a modern IT tool that will allow you to discover the paintings in an exciting new way. The depicted characters will come to life, by means of AR, telling the story of Tijl Uilenspiegel.
Download our free App and you will be ready to enjoy a some of the mysteries of medieval Flanders.
Enjoy with UptoPlay the online game Walking Museum.
