White Fang is the title of a novel by the American writer Jack London, as well as the name of its protagonist. The story takes place in the Yukon Territory, Canada, during the Klondike Gold Rush in the late 19th century, narrating the path to the domestication of a wild wolfdog. White Fang is a companion novel to The Call of the Wild, London's best-known work, which is about a kidnapped domestic dog who must use his wild ancestral instincts to survive and thrive in the forests of Alaska.
Most of the novel is written from the canine character's point of view, allowing London to explore the way animals view their world and how they view humans. White Fang examines the violent world of wild animals and the equally violent world of humans. The novel also explores complex themes, such as morality and redemption.
