AudioNav: Audible Compass play online

AudioNav is a compass using the magnetic sensor of your phone with sound output to indicate your heading relative to a specified course. You set a course to follow and then listen for the beeps indicating your heading. When you are to the left you will hear low beeps and if you are to the right you will hear high beeps. The further you are off course then faster the beeping will be. If you are on course then the app will be silent.
You can set a course either by adjusting the course field, or you can set it to the current heading by tapping the current heading.
Should you find that the compass is too sensitive to slight movements as you move, you can change the response time from within the menu. This will mean that the app will average the heading over a greater time and so will be less sensitive to temporary changes of heading.
Should you not be able to point your phone straight ahead, you can also set an offset to account for this from the menu.
As AudioNav has been designed for use by the vision impaired, it has been designed to be accessible with the TalkBack screenreader.
Whilst AudioNav has been designed for use by VI sailors, there are probably many other uses where it may be applicable.
Due to the wide variety of devices available, it is difficult to confirm the reliability of the app in any given situation. Therefore users are responsible to test the app for its suitability for their chosen use and should always have alternative navigational aids available as a back up.
