Use UptoPlay to play online the game Headphone detector.
This service will automatically launch Vanilla Music after Android broadcasted an HEADSET_PLUG event.
Please note that you need to start the application at least once in order to launch the persistent background service. Also note that the application is *useless* unless Vanilla Music is installed on your device.
Giving the app an one-star rating because you did not read this description (and failed to install Vanilla Music) will probably make you look dumb.

I read your description. Not to be a smart allec but couldn't you have just intergraded this app into a feature instead? On the Vanilla Music app. Instead of making a separate app.
Have Vanilla Music Player installed (5*, best music player!), ran this, ran that, enabled stuff etc, never fires off the app. No perms seem necessary etc. Vzw Galaxy S8+ latest updates.
After upgrading to Android 8.1 crashes on boot. It worked great up to nougat.
Too Good to Describe. Never knew such a wonderful app existed.
Used to be perfect. Now it immediately crashes as soon as you plug in any headset. It only has to do one thing, and it can't even do that."
